A Plymouth nous avons visité the national Aquarium
We had a long walk in Dartmoor National park . We set off from Princetown also known for Dartmoor Prison. We saw the old railway now closed but it was it its time the highest railway line in England. Princetown also inspired Arthur Conan Doyle to write the book The hound of the Baskerville when he visited the village and area with one of his friends.
We saw the Hut circles . They date back between 5,000 and 3,000 years . We walked through a granite quarry - it was originally a Torr and they cut out some big rocks to build famous monuments ( National gallery , British museum ) around London.
Of course we saw the poneys , really close and the foals !
We drove the West into Cornwall – to see the Eden project
There were 5 domes re- creating different types of climate – the best one was the tropical dome – it had the largest captive tropical forest in the world !
There are over one hundred thousand plants
We tried Baobab juice !
There were exhibits about recycling
Did you know it ?
the energy comes from wind turbines in Cornwall
and insulation comes from the inflatable plastic sheets on the domes
The tropical dome is 240m long, 110m wide and 50m high, it contains over 1000 plant species !
